Two Clinton coaches have made the 2016 Mississippi Association of Coaches “Coaches of the Year” list.
Athletic Director and Boys Basketball Head Coach Clay Norton was named the 2016 Athletic Director of the year.
Clinton Public School District’s Superintendent Dr. Phil Burchfield applauded Coach Norton’s accomplishment. “This award validates our high opinion of Coach Norton. He not only coaches and leads our athletic department, but he also teaches his players sportsmanship and teamwork.”
Dr. Burchfield added, “Coach Norton understands good leadership and sets a high standard for athletics throughout our school district.”

Also named on the MAC 2016 “Coaches of the Year” list is Head Swimming Coach Eddie Ware. Ware directed the Clinton Swim team to the Class-2 State Championships, racking up various individual and team victories.
“Coach Ware does a fantastic job of working with our swim team,” Athletic Director Clay Norton said. “He knows how to get the most and best out of our swimmers. We are very fortunate to have a person of Coach Ware’s swimming expertise on our coaching staff.”
Clinton is one of two schools with multiple coaches named on this year’s list.
