First year Head Coach Melissa Denson finished her inaugural year at the reigns with a .500 win percentage, but her leadership and coaching abilites made quite the impression on her peers.
On Thursday, Nov. 3, the Mississippi Association of Coaches announced Denson will be at the helm of the 2017 North State All-Star Volleyball team. She has chosen Lady Arrow assistant coach Pollyann Watters to serve as the North State All-Star Assistant Coach.
“I’m extremely excited and honored with the opportunity to represent Arrow Athletics and our volleyball program,” Denson said.
“Being named Head Coach for the 2017 North State All-Star Volleyball team is a compliment to Coach Denson and the volleyball team’s success this year,” Dr. Clay Norton, Athletic Director said. “She has proven that she can find a way to have her teams dig deep, compete and win.”
Denson led the Lady Arrows to a 6-0 District record. The Lady Arrows hosted the first round of playoffs, defeating Northwest Rankin before losing a close second round match to Tupelo.
“It is flat out awesome to have Clinton Athletics and Clinton Volleyball represented by Coach Denson,” Norton said. “Her selection as All-Star Coach shows the continual success of our athletic programs across the board.”
The Mississippi Association of Coaches will announce players chosen to the 2017 North and South All-Star Teams on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The 2017 All-Star Volleyball Game will be played at 6 PM on July 19, 2017, at Millsap’s Hangar Dome in Jackson.
