
When it came to Darius Maberry’s senior year, he knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted a 6A Championship title and a ring to go with it.
When it comes to Darius Maberry’s college career, he’s known exactly where he belongs. He belongs in Hattiesburg at the University of Southern Mississippi.
On National Signing Day, the 6A State Champion running back put pen to paper to solidify his future on coach Jay Hopson’s Golden Eagle football team.
“I love the atmosphere at Southern Miss,” Maberry said. “The people, the coaches, the players, I know it’s truly home.”
After leading the Arrows in total yards during his junior season, the shifty running back spent his senior season racking up all kinds of numbers.
Maberry finished second on the team in total yards with 1714-all purpose yards, with 1220 of those yards as rushing yards, and 494 as receiving yards.
He wracked up 24 touchdowns, averaged over 81-yards per game, over 7-yards per carry and had five games with over 100-rushing yards.
After helping the Arrows win their first MHSAA State Championship, Maberry was named to the MS-AL All-Star team.
Darius Maberry is the grandson of Jennifer Maberry and son of Princess Maberry.
