When the Lady Arrows finished their 2018 season at 23-6, hard work and senior leadership played a large factor in that impressive record. Senior Shania Wright helped lead the team by example.
On March 22, Shania Wright signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss.
“The coaching staff at Pearl River made me feel at home,” Wright said. “The program is very family oriented, and I feel they’ll help me improve my game for this level.”
Wright, a captain her senior season, proved to be a key force in the paint for the Lady Arrows. She racked up 199 points on the season, averaging just over 7 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.
“Shania has developed into such a wonderful player,” Lady Arrows Head Basketball Coach Michael Coleman said. “Her best asset is her defense. She plays really good perimeter defense, and she’s a good rebounder.”
Wright’s efforts through her varsity career earned her the 2018 Most Improved Player for the Lady Arrows and had her in contention for the Clarion Ledger’s Player of the week after scoring 25 points with 13 rebounds.
Wright and fellow Lady Arrow Mychala Linzy will both play for the Lady Wildcast at PRCC.
Shania Wright is the daughter of Lateetra and George Wright.
