Clinton’s Daryon Jackson knows that diversifying his talent could help his record-setting track team improve on a daily basis, and come fall of 2018, he plans on taking the same determination to William Carey’s campus in Hattiesburg.
On Tuesday, May 10, Daryon Jackson signed a letter of intent to join the William Carey Track & Field team.
Clinton’s Head Track & Field Coach Johnathan Perkins said that Jackson’s talents should lend to his transition from high school to college.
“Daryon is the most explosive male short sprinter I have ever coached,” Perkins said. “He will do very well at the next level.”
Jackson assisted in making Clinton Track a quality name with his indoor and outdoor track performances.
He clocked in a personal best 7.35 seconds in the 60 meter indoor sprint and a 22.41 second 200 meter outdoor sprint.
He also set PRs in the long jump (22′ 6.5″) and the triple jump (44′ 2″).
Jackson was named to the New Balance All-American team, and was part of the Clinton Arrow Track & Field State Champion team in 2017.
He is a member of the Jackson Alumni chapter of the Kappa League.
Daryon Jackson is the son of Kimberly Wheaton-Middleton and Shawn Middleton.
