Clinton XC Teams Finish in Top Three at JPS Cross Country Challenge


On Thursday, Oct. 18, the Clinton Cross Country teams competed in the JPS Cross Country Challenge.

The Boys XC team placed second in the event, and the Girls XC team placed third.

Senior Joshun Noel was eight seconds off the leader, finishing second out of over 160 male runners.

Senior Jordan Shannon finished fourth (17:45.23), and junior Evan Carite finished seventh (18:10.61).

Senior Glyn Heath rounded out the top ten and finished fourth for Clinton (18:55.37).

Junior Shelby Dean placed fifth in the girls race (21:35.41).

Senior Hannah Derrick finished sixth (21:57.38), and eighth grader Evelyn Mata-O’Dwyer finished 15th (23:14.83).

The Boys and Girls teams will compete in the Region 2-6A meet on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Choctaw Trails in order to qualify for the MHSAA State Cross Country Meet.
