The Clinton Lady Arrows and Clinton Arrows spent the weekend in Pensacola to test the talent in the Florida panhandle. Each team played three Florida teams during the two-day contest.
Lady Arrows Go 3-0 on the Road
On Friday, Dec. 14, the Lady Arrows (8-2-2) took on Gulf Breeze High School from Gulf Breeze, Florida. The Clinton girls defeated the Lady Dolphins 2-1. Kaci Craft and Jada Jelks both scored with Camille Bohannon and Acacia Rodriguez collecting assists.
Saturday, the Lady Arrows played two matches. The first against Arnold High School from Panama City, Florida. The Lady Arrows took down the Lady Marlins 3-1 with Rodriguez, Bohannon and freshman Tailynn Remmel collecting goals. Craft and Rodriguez earned assists.
The Lady Arrows faced Tate High School in their final match of the weekend. The Lady Arrows defeated the Lady Aggies 5-2. Junior Kaci Craft scored two goals. Jelks, Bohannon and Rodriguez each scored one goal. Jelk and Anna Grace Carter were both credited with assists.
Clinton Boys Challenged by Florida Teams
Friday night, the Arrows (4-8-1) faced Gulf Breeze High School, falling 2-1 to the Dolphins. Senior Victor Razinobakht scored for the Arrows with an assist from Carson Barefoot.
Saturday’s first match against Choctawhatchee High School from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, had the Arrows tied 1-1 at the half, but an unfortunate PK minutes into the second half allowed the Indians to take a one-goal lead. Clinton was unable to find the equalizer and fell 2-1. Miles Sims is credited with the goal, and Luke Bryant with the assist.
The Arrows faced a talented Pensacola Catholic High School soccer team in their final match of the weekend, falling 3-0 to the Crusaders.
A Look Ahead
The Clinton Girls and Boys teams will close out the 2018 portion of their season Friday in Flowood as they take on the Northwest Rankin Cougars.
The Lady Arrows will kick off at 2:00 PM followed by the Boys’ game at 4:00 PM.
