The start of the season welcomed various victories and challenges for both the Arrows and Lady Arrows. The Girls went into the break with a 9-2-2 record, and the Boys finished at 4-9-1.
Whatever the lessons learned and confidences gained in the matches played in 2018, the games that matter—District Games—face the Arrows head on.
Lady Arrows Find Two Wins and a Draw
The Lady Arrows (11-2-3; 1-0) hosted the Florence Lady Eagles in a make-up match that was previously rained out. Three Lady Arrows scored in the 3-3 draw
The Lady Arrows tied the Lady Eagles 3-3 with three different Lady Arrows finding the back of the net. Juniors Acacia Rodriguez (2) and Kaci Craft scored for the Lady Arrows. Senior Cameron Gladney, junior Parker Ann Ainsworth and sophomore Grace Goolsby were credited with assists.
On Friday, Jan. 11, the Lady Arrows avenged their draw and earned their first District win against Greenville 18-0.
On Saturday, Jan. 12, the Lady Arrows defeated Tupelo 1-0 after junior Kaci Craft scored a one-touch volley to the back of the net after an assist from sophomore Jada Jelks.
Arrows Go 2-1 After Midway Break
The Arrows (6-10-1; 1-0) opened up 2019 with a win, welcoming the Florence Eagles at Arrow Field. Clinton took down Florence 3-0 with three Arrows finding the back of the net.
Seniors Brandon Smith and Nathan Thomas as well as junior Luke Bryant all scored against Florence for the Arrows.
On Friday, Jan. 11, the Arrows hosted Greenville for the first District match of the season. Clinton took down the Hornets 5-0 to win two in a row.
On Saturday, Jan 12, Clinton hosted Tupelo is a rainy match at Arrow Field. The Arrows fell 3-0.
A Look Ahead
Tuesday night, the Lady Arrows and Arrows travel to Warren Central to take on the Vikings. This is a must-win match for both teams to all but secure their spot as District 6-2A Champions.
The Lady Arrows kick off at 5:30 PM and the Arrows are scheduled for 7:00 PM.
