The Clinton Basketball teams put on a show on Tuesday, Jan. 22, when they hosted Provine in a District 6-2A match up.
With both teams claiming victories by double-digits, the Arrows and Lady Arrows are pointed in the right direction as the season winds down.
Lady Arrows 56, Provine 40
The Lady Arrows opened up with a strong first half, matching point for point with the Provine Lady Rams. After trailing by one at the end of the first quarter, Clinton closed out the first half leading by a basket, 27-25.
The Lady Arrows spent no time in the second half opening up their lead, taking advantage of open passing lanes and solid shooting, opening up to a game-high 18-point lead in the final quarter, and earning a 56-40 win.
Senior Tamara Alexander gobbled up a career-high 29 points on the night with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Arrows 84, Provine 58
After a 73-58 win over Lanier at the 2019 MLK Classic, the Arrows focused on a key District game against Provine.
Thursday night’s game opened with the Rams banking the first basket, but the Arrows dominated the meeting.
Clinton led by six at the half, 38-32. However, it was the second half where the Arrows put pedal to the metal to zoom past Provine.
At the end of the third quarter, Clinton led by 15. But by the end of the game, the Arrows scored 84 points, their second highest score of the season.
Five Arrows scored double digits in the blowout win.
Senior Kolby Moore dropped 18 points and sophomore Omarion Luss scored 15.
Seniors Tailor Anderson and Xyshan Jenkins both scored 14 points, and Quandarius Studaway scored 13.
A Look Ahead
On Friday, Jan. 25, Clinton will host Greenville in a District 6-2A match up. The Lady Arrows are 2-1 in district play, and the Arrows sit at 3-1.
This will be the second meeting between Clinton and Greenville this season.
The last time these teams met the Arrows defeated the Hornets 57-45, but the Lady Arrows fell 65-36 to the undefeated Lady Hornets.
The Lady Arrows will tip off against Greenville at 6:00 PM followed by the Arrows at 7:30 p.m.
