Clinton Volleyball has become a force to be reckoned with, and senior Avia Hathorn has played a key factor in establishing this reputation.
But with her senior year behind her, she’s nailed down where her playing career will continue.
On Thursday, February 20, right side hitter Avia Hathorn signed a letter of intent with Maine Maritime Academy.
Hathorn is a member of the 2019 MHSAA 6A State Champion Volleyball team at Clinton High School.
The three year starter provided a trustworthy attacking force on the right side for Clinton’s coach Megan Brown.
Maine Maritime head coach Tricia Carver said her talents will fit in with the MMA family.
“I’m so glad first impressions have become our reality,” Carver said. “Avia is in going to do incredible things here at MMA.”
Carver said Hathorn’s ability to be a great teammate mirrors her skills on the court. She said her passion, drive and skill is something that will be welcomed to the team.
“Avia will make an immediate impact on the court upon her arrival at MMA,” Carver added.
Hathorn is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and plays many leadership roles off the court.
Avia Hathorn is the daughter of Betty and Jason Hathorn.
